- Note! There are two Larry Dean Drollingers born within a couple yearsof one another! What are the odds of that?!

I called and spoke to Larry Dean Drollinger for the first time bytelephone on 8 Jan 2008. We had a pretty good visit. I called him athis work number, (714) 279-8091 which I found listed in whitpages.com. After I explained who I was and why I was calling he was more relaxedabout sharing his personal information with me. We have both been inthe construction business for most of our lives. He said he has owneda business or two. He is in commercial construction doing remodelwork. He said his middle name is Dean and that he was born 28 Dec1941 in Compton, CA. I told him about the other Larry Dean Drollingerof almost the same age even living in Idaho which surprised him.Larry confided in me that his father had abandoned him and his motherbefore he was born. He said that he thinks his father's name wasGerald Drollinger. Apparently his mother who is now deceased neverspoke of his father or his father's side of the family. He said he isan only child. His mother's name is Mildred Boyce and she had nomiddle name and she was born in Rexford, KS and died May 1995. Larryconfirmed that he was married to the late Margaret Lois Erikson. Hesaid she was quick to correct anyone who tried to add a "c" to hersurname! They adopted a girl, his only child, Marla Dee Drollinger.He said she either had been married or was still married (I wasn'tquite clear about that) and that he was living with her because ofhealth reasons. I'm assuming her health, since Larry is obviouslyable to work. Just for the record, I asked if Larry was the father oftwo boys named Cy and Lon and he seemed to have no idea who they were. Therefore, perhaps they must be the sons of the other LarryDrollinger I have found living in CA. We said goodbye and agreed tokeep in touch. Larry gave me his cell phone number: (714) 773-1149.

While doing some quick studying after I hung up from you, I noticedthat, as I had indicated to you on the phone, not only did I have youincorrectly listed as a son of George Ellwood Drollinger (as you say),but I also had a possible "sister" (possible daughter of GeorgeEllwood Drollinger) listed with you as well by the name of Mildred L.Drollinger. Here's the real interesting part - according to thegenealogy website, Ancestry.com that I was telling you about, itindicates that she was born in Los Angeles County on 18 Oct 1944 andher mother's maiden name was Boyce! Here's what I find very curious about all this: You told me today thatyou didn't have any brothers or sisters; however, what are the oddsthat there would be another Drollinger family in the Los Angeles areain the early/mid 1940s whose wife has the maiden name "Boyce"? And inthis case, they name their daughter "Mildred L." the same name youtold me was your mother's first name. And she was born in 1944 justthree years after you were born. That's a lot of coincidences!
I see according to Peoplefinders.com search for "Mildred L.Drollinger" "all states" she is apparently living in Galt, CA.
And you really never have heard of her before now? I find itdifficult to believe that she isn't your sister, unless there is somemistake that I am not aware of. This is a mystery! Do you supposethere is any chance your mother and father could have had anotherchild (Mildred L. in this case) without you knowing about it?Whatever the truth is, I am NOT out to condemn anyone!!! That'scertainly NOT what I'm about or other genealogists that I'm aware are. We all have our "histories" that we wish we could erase parts of.But, as far as knowing how each of us got here, we believe we alldeserve that basic right to know that heritage - right, wrong orindifferent. And so, that's the way I approach what I do. I simplywant to know how I am related to you and I really don't care if therewere shenanigans in either branch that lead to you or me.
Well, I hope I didn't give you any upsetting information. My onlyintention is to help, not hurt.
I sure look forward to hearing back from you. Especially aboutwhether or not Mildred really is a sister of yours or not and who yourgrandfather Drollinger was.

Yes I too find this very interesting. My mother was always one to keepthe family in close contact, at least hers. When I was old enough tounderstand why didn?t have a father at home, she did say she was verysorry she had not kept in touch with my fathers family. My birth toremy mother up quite badly when I was born, which was at home and not ina hospital. So I really don?t think I have a sister by my mother. Whatmy father did after he left is totally unknown.

According to the California Birth Index, it lists Larry's mother'smaiden name as "Boyce". Could Boyce be Mary Belle's maiden name or isshe another wife of George?
