MRS. TRULLINGER
Funeral services were held Wed afternoon in the Christian Church at Farragut for Mrs. Hillary Burton (Dick) Trullinger by Rev. Peter Jacobs of Shenandoah. Mrs. Charles Herriman and Mrs. Herschel Whitehill with Mrs. Albert Turnball as pianist sang three numbers.The flowers were cared for by Mrs. OW Cutler, Mrs. Mac Lightfoot, and Miss Fern Anderson. The casket bearers were Richard Trullinger,Fletcher Bennett, Gene Richardson, Marrel Snyder, Roy Trullinger and Frank Hannum. Interment was in the Farragut Cemetery.
Mrs . Trullinger had lived 61 years at Farragut and was much revered by the people of the community. Mrs. Trullinger died Mon Nov. 26. She was a mother of 9 children, 7 of whom are living. 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren mourn her death. 7 of her grandsons were among those listed in the services of their country in WWII. Her father was a veteran of the Civil War and was a member of Company F,30th Iowa Infantry, served from Aug 13, 1862 to June 5, 1865.
Clara Cutler Ober was the daughter of Oliver F Ober and Mary Brooks-Ober. She was born at Bloomfield IA July 20, 1866 and had reached the age of 79 yrs. She was left motherless at the age of 8.At the age of 16 she united with the Methodist Church, under the ministry of which she had found salvation. Later she transferred her membership to the Church of Christ in Farragut.
She came to Farragut at the age of 18, directly to the home of her relative Isaac Trullinger, one of the founders of the Christian Church of that place. On Feb 26, 1891, she and Hillary Burton Trullinger, best known in the community as "Dick", were united in marriage by the Rev. Howe, at the time the minister of the Church of Christ. In this companionship she became associated with one of the early pioneer families of the community. Her husband also was a native of Iowa,born at Drakesville. 9 children were born to them. Two of her children preceded her in death, Mary Lucinda who died in infancy and Olive, Mrs. Elmer Parker, who died Jan 30, 1935. Those who are living are Milton T, Willow Springs MO, Jessie (Mrs. George Sawyer) Paxton NE, Earl T (Waterloo NE), Pearl (Mrs. Marrel Snyder) Malvern IA, Isaac T Farragut IA, Bessie (Mrs. Fletcher Bennett) Shenandoah IA, and Dolliver T of Farragut . She was the mother of twins _ Earl and Pearl. 26 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a newphew, Frank Hannum of Omaha, whom she reared from childhood, will ever have the memories of a loving and devoted one to cherish.
The death of her husband Oct 7, 1935 closed an earthly companionship of 44 yrs. She had 7 grandsons in the service in WWII, two of whom were casket bearers. She endeared herself to the community by her willingness and readiness to come into the homes faced by need andsorrow and render helpful service.
