Hazel Christner, 94, of Mexico, Missouri and Quartzsite, Arizona, formerly of Washington IA died from a sudden illness on Sunday August 15, 2010 at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. She will definitely be missed by all, but her Annual Ho-Downs will continue every year in celebration of an Awesome Ladies Life...
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday August 18, 2010 at Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Jean Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Tuesday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to contributors' choice.
Hazel was born on May 12, 1916 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Vernon E. and Georgia V (Rich) Dawson. She graduated from West Chester High School. Hazel was united in marriage to Joseph H. Christner on March 17, 1933 in Oquawka, Illinois. She worked for American Pearl Button Company, Advance Ross Electronics, Washington Manufacturing, Gibson's Department Store, Spurgeons Clothing, Frontier Café, and she also owned and operated "The Clothes Line" clothing store. She was a member of the Christian Church in Keota, and the Eagles Club in Iowa City and she Loved to dance.
Hazel is survived by the twenty five year love of her life George Weeks, children Lee Christner and wife LeeRaye of Rexburg, Idaho, Ferne Craft and Kenny Kruser of Palmyra Mo, Judy Rotenburger and husband Larry of Mexico, Missouri; forty grandchildren, forty nine great grandchildren and twenty great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons Dale and Robert Christner. Five Brothers, Howard, Mike, Budge, Duane, Dick "Zeke" Dawson, and one Sister Millie.
