  	Mellon, Elizabeth Posted By: Abby Bowman Date: February 22 2004 Elizabeth Mellon, known to practically everybody in Bedford as "Miss Lizzie", died at her apartments in the Ridenour Block on Sunday morning. She was born October 19th, 1850 and was aged therefore 70 years, 4 months, and 24 days. She was a daughter of Andrew Mellon and his wife, Rebecca Snyder Mellon. She was born and reared at Belden, Bedford Co. In 1887 she came to Bedford to work in the home of J. Scott Corle. Later she became a clerk in Mr. Corle's Variety store. When Mr. Corle preceded her in death and the store came into the possession of his daughter and son-in-law, William A. Weisel, she continued as a faithful employee in the same store. Thus for 34 years she served the same family establishing a record not only for length of service but for fidelity in that service. Always kind and accommodating, she made for herself a host of friends who will regret her sudden death. Three brothers proceeded her to the spirit world and she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Drollinger of Kansas City, Kansas. Her funeral was held from the home of William A. Weisel on Tuesday afternoon, March 15th. She was a faithful member of St. John's Church and her pastor, Rev. J. Albert Eyler had charge of the services. Her body was laid to rest beside her brothers in St. Paul's Reformed cemetery, near Cessna, Pa. (Source: Bedford Gazette, March 18, 1921)
