Notes - Description: Hi my name is Carol Schieler, I am the granddaughter of Thomas Carl Slate. The son of Thomas Jefferson Slate (his father was Henry Chesterfield Slate).
Thomas Carl Slate was born March 20, 1901 and died April 7, 1995. Before he passed I took a tape recorder and asked him about his life.
His father was Thomas Jefferson Slate and his mother was Viola Pearl (Hunter) Slate, which there isn't alot of information...but I do have some. Viola Pearl Slate was born January 24, 1883 and died October 29, 1902 of walking typhoid, and is buried in Sears OK. But for years and years I had no luck finding Sears until recently.
Thomas and Pearl went from Mansfield, MO to Oklahoma where his dad was going to work in the oil fields by covered wagon and Pearl's brother was with them Arthur Hunter of OK.
There was another child: Ruby Mae born October 2, 1902 and died January 29, 1903
I have pictures of Thomas Jefferson Slate and Viola Pearl Slate on their wedding day married August 30, 1899, Perry O.J, Oklahoma Territory
