RICKENBRODE ENGAGED IN BUSINESS THERE 30 YEARS; WAS ALSOPOSTMASTER H. J. Rickenbrode, 76, for more than thirty years a general merchantat Medora and for several years postmaster of that town, died at 10:50this morning at a Hutchinson hospital. (March 14, 1933) He had been ill for some time with dropsy, and was moved to thehospital about a week ago. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Communitychurch in Medora. The body will lie in state at the home after 9 a.m.Thursday. Mr. Rickenbrode was widely known over the county, he was for yearsRepublican precinct committeeman for Medora township on the countycommittee of his party. His wife died five years ago. He is survived by four sons, Jesse E.of Neodesha, KS, Cyril G. of Wichita, Howard R. of Indianapolis, Ind,and Dwight of Tulsa, Okla, and one daughter, Mrs. Celia Truitt ofMedora. Mr. Rickenbrode was born in Fryburg, PA, August 1856. He later movedto Kansas in 1878, locating at Ellsworth where he engaged in thehardware business, later moving to Medora in 1901, where he had been abusiness man ever since.
