Harvey J. Rickenbrode Obituary
"MEDORA LEADER TAKEN BY DEATH"
H. J. RICKENBRODE ENGAGED IN BUSINESS THERE 30 YEARS; WAS ALSOPOSTMASTER
H. J. Rickenbrode, 76, for more than thirty years a general merchantat Medora and for several years postmaster of that town, died at 10:50this morning at a Hutchinson hospital. (March 14, 1933)
He had been ill for some time with dropsy, and was moved to thehospital about a week ago.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Communitychurch in Medora. The body will lie in state at the home after 9 a.m.Thursday.
Mr. Rickenbrode was widely known over the county, he was for yearsRepublican precinct committeeman for Medora township on the countycommittee of his party.
His wife died five years ago. He is survived by four sons, Jesse E.of Neodesha, KS, Cyril G. of Wichita, Howard R. of Indianapolis, Ind,and Dwight of Tulsa, Okla, and one daughter, Mrs. Celia Truitt ofMedora.
Mr. Rickenbrode was born in Fryburg, PA, August 1856. He later movedto Kansas in 1878, locating at Ellsworth where he engaged in thehardware business, later moving to Medora in 1901, where he had been abusiness man ever since.

Mattie L. Rickenbrode Obituary
"WIFE OF MEDORA MERCHANT IS DEAD"
Mrs. Mattie Rickenbrode, 66, wife of Harvey J. Rickenbrode, merchantat Medora, died this morning at 2:05 o'clock at a local hospitalfollowing an illness of many months. The funeral services will beheld from the Medora church tomorrow afternoon at 2:o'clock with Rev.A. Henry in charge. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Rickenbrode was born at Consecus, N.Y. May 19, 1861. Thefamily moved to Medora in 1901 from Hebron, Ind. She had been a lifelong member of the Methodist church and was very active in Sundayschool work.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Celia Truitt,Coats; four sons, Earl Rickenbrode, Neodesha; Cyril Rickenbrode,Herington; Howard J. Rickenbrode, Indianapolis, Ind. and DwightRickenbrode, Tulsa, Ok; one sister, Mrs. J.E. Tyson of this city andtwo brothers, William Holmes and Charles Holmes of Genesco.
