David W. Schlichting 50, Indianapolis, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at Select Specialty Methodist Hospital. He was born May 2, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas. His parents were Wesley and Pauline (Stoner) Schlichting. He married Joan Drullinger on September 9, 1989. She survives. Survivors include a son, David Wayne Schlichting of Indianapolis; a step daughter, Angela Shackleford of Indianapolis; two brothers, Scott B. Schlichting of Puyallup, WA. and Daniel Stoner of New Washington, IN; a sister, Kim Gabbard of Lawrenceburg, KY; and several nieces and nephews. He was employed for 32 years by United States Postal Service as a Tractor Trailor Operator, having retired in 2003. He was a member of V.F.W. Post in Beech Grove, American Legion Wayne Post #64 and the American Postal Workers Union Indianapolis Area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He had played in several bands in the Indianapolis area. A service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, St. Rd. 135 Chapel, Greenwood. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. ,
