- PORTLAND - Mary Marie (Schuening) Trullinger, 88, died May 3, 2009 in Portland, where she resided most of her adult life. Graveside services were held May 8, 2009, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Mrs. Trullinger was born June 19, 1920, in Pendleton. She was the third of five children - and only daughter - of William M. and Christine (Schwandt) Schuening, who farmed in the Pendleton-Helix area. She attended elementary school at Riverside and Adams, and began the third grade in Helix, graduating in 1937 from Griswold Union High School.
Following graduation from the Draper School of Commerce in La Grande, she worked for the Umatilla County Welfare Commission and Pilot Rock Lumber Company until her marriage in 1943 to Robert W. "Bud" Trullinger of Coon Rapids, Iowa. Bud had been stationed at the Army Air Base in Pendleton, and the two met at a USO dance. After World War II, the couple settled in Portland, where they worked and raised their two daughters; they returned frequently to visit family in the Pendleton area.
Mrs. Trullinger is survived by daughters Susan K. Bach of Portland and Janet C. Rickel of Beaverton; brother Harry Schuening of Helix; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bud Trullinger, in 2007; her parents; infant daughter Mary Esther Trullinger; and brothers William, Carl, and Roy (Bob) Schuening.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Susan K. Bach and Janet C. Rickel. She was preceded in death by her husband, ROBERT "Bud" W.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, in Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements by Zeller Chapel of the Roses.

After attending high and college, Mary
Accepted a position with Rudie Wilhelm Warehouse Co. She was employed for eighteen years as an account Supervisor.
During the course of her life, Mary fell in love and accepted the hand of Mr. Robert ?Bud? W. Trullinger. Mr. Trullinger passed away on July 2, 2007.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Susan K. Bach and Janet C. Rickel.
The family has asked that remembrances be sent to the Helix Museum.
