- It appears that sloppy research plus poor record keeping have led several people to a brick wall. If one looks at what records have been found she is identified as Julia F. or J.F. yet her stone found on another tree wrongly Identifies her as Francis F. which is the male spelling of Frances. So who ever ordered the stone was semi literate at best or a total illerate. The stone carver then proceeded to carve the male spelling into the stone. What further complicates the matter is the use of initials rather than names. If we examine the three pieces of data closely we see the marriage entry, typed rather than written, contains the curious notation of application only. This leads one to believe there was no return of the application with a minister or Justice of the Peace notation the marriage was performed. In 1880 Julia was residing in Clackamas County in the heart of Trullingers. The only John that might fit is John Wesley Trullinger, son of Nathan Hale Trullinger. He is missing in the 1880 census but was married in 1875 in Marion County Oregon. Since we only have an initial J to work with why not James as in James Barton Trullinger? He also is missing in the 1880 census so we don't know his definite where abouts. We do know he married Nealie Rowland in Polk County to the west of Marion in 1881. Perhaps he was having some marital problems and decided to get together with Julia but only got the application knowing he was committing the crime of bigamy. So they weren't really married at all and after Julia died he went back to his wife. Gordon L. Drollinger 7 June 2017
