Doug K. "Packy" Trollinger Sr.
LIBERTY - Mr. Doug K. "Packy" Trollinger, Sr., 74, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Mr. Trollinger was of the Methodist faith. A graduate of Bessemer High School, he often spoke of his happy childhood growing up in the Bessemer community. He was a retired department manager for Cone Mills White Oak Plant with 43 years of service. He was a sports fan who liked college basketball, especially Carolina and Duke and also the N.F.L. Mr. Trollinger was an avid gardener and was happiest when riding his tractor. He enjoyed playing golf and scored a hole in one in 1994 and also won two tournaments with the Cone Mills team.
Mr. Trollinger was preceded in death by his parents, North Edison and Opal Kennett Trollinger and brothers, Richard and N.E. Trollinger.
Mr. Trollinger is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Nancy Brown Trollinger of the home, son, Ken Trollinger and wife, Becky of Julian, daughter, Sharon Trollinger, Tammie Greene who is like a daughter, both of Liberty, brother, Don Trollinger of Greensboro, grandchildren; Brian and Brad Casey and Amanda Trollinger and his beloved canine companion, Cody.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405 or to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 7394 Shiloh Rd., Liberty, NC 27298.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2011 at the funeral home.
