Evangeline Johnson Trolinger
LYFORD, TX - Evangeline Johnson Trolinger, 75, passed away on April 21, 2004, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She was a lifelong resident of the Lyford area. She was born January 24, 1929 on a farm west of Sebastian to Arthur and Esther Johnson.
Evangeline served as a bookkeeper for Lyford Consolidated School district for 23 years, but the priority of her life was being a wife and a mother. She was a longtime member of the Lyford Women's Club and enjoyed helping with the Harlingen Community Concert. At Frist Christian Church in Raymondville, she served in many ways such as playing the organ, teaching Sunday school, and directing the choir. She later enjoyed worshiping at First Christian Church in Harlingen, where she was a member.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, E.H. Trolinger; two children, Jim (Kelly) Trolinger of Harlingen and Diane (Daryl) Lassig of Lyford; and four grandchildren, Shannon and Sarah Trolinger and Jarrett and Hannah Lassig. She is also survived by her brother, Alden Johnson of Lyford and her sisters, Rosemond Bell of Raymondville, Gladys Weaver of Corpus Christi, and Eleanor Studebaker of Kingsland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Gordon and Chester Johnson.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 23, 2004, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with the family members present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2004, at First Christian Church in Harlingen with Pastor John Huegel and Darrel Johnson officiating. The interment service, lead by Fr. David Reed, will follow at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be Richard Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Lynn Johnson, Darrel Johnson, Russell Studebaker, Drew Sims, Larry Franks, and Mark Jud.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the: Trolinger Scholarship Fund, c/o Lyford C.I.S.D., P.O. Box 220, Lyford, TX 78569.
The Trolinger family wishes to thank all of their friends and family for the love, prayers, and support given to each of them.
