      March 22, 1934
Fourteen Hurt When Truck Is Wrecked.
      (Salem Post.)
Gladene Turner, the 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Turner of Bixby, was severly injured Tuesday evening about 5 o'clock, on Highway No. 32 about eight miles west of Salem, when the truck driven by Corb Turner, her uncle, went into the ditch. The little girl's scalp was torn from the left side of her head from about the center of her forehead to her left ear. She was brought to Salem for first aid treatment at the hands of Dr. Dillon, and was then sent to the hospital at Rolla.
There were thirteen people in the truck when the accident happened, and the family party was returning home from attending the funeral of Mrs, John Trollinger, near Licking, and all of them suffered injuries of a minor character. The truck was traveling at a high rate of speed, and the driver lost control of the vehicle which went into the ditch and a wire fence, but did not turn completely over. [end]
(Note: Mrs. John Trollinger referenced in this article is Nancy Leanna (Leon) Turner, wife of John Henry Trolinger)
