- Cynthia J. Cleary of Ipswich, wife of Brendan Cleary, passed away July 9, 2019 after a courageous battle against early onset Alzheimer's.
Cindy was born on November 30, 1948 in her beloved state of Oregon and spent her formative years in Roseburg, Oregon. Having graduated from Roseburg High School, she then accepted employment with the FBI in the Los Angeles, CA Field Office in 1969. As secretary of the Bank Robbery Squad, she had a variety of responsibilities. It was here that she met her husband and they married in December 1970. In October 1973 they were blessed with a darling daughter Erin Colleen and settled in Augora, CA. In 1978, the Cleary family, as a result of Brendan's transfer to the Boston Field Office, settled in Ipswich.
While in Ipswich Cindy held many jobs, the lengthiest being with a welding company in Newburyport as the office manager. Interspersed with her job she became immersed with decorative painting as a hobby. She became very accomplished to the extent she won several national awards.
Sadly, the Clearys lost their daughter Erin to an infection in 2009. Thereafter, Cindy retired and turned her efforts again to painting and charitable works. Cindy became afflicted with early onset Alzheimer's in 2014.
Cindy leaves behind her dedicated husband, Brendan of Ipswich and her brother, Gary Cox of Portland, Oregon, a former United States Marine.
Private arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association.
