  He was drowned on a night trip on on the river when he stepped fromthe barge to the raft and his lantern was seen to go out. This occuredon wednesday evening June 6th when he was only 20 years old. Theysearched five days for the body and the funeral was the followingtuesday, 12 June 1888 at the parents home (William and Jane McGinnis)169 Buena Vista Street, Allegheny City PA.
