    • John's sister, Sally Robbins is the person who signed John's burial papers according to the cemetery secretary that I spoke to today, 9 Feb 2015. She also informed me that Abbey Park Lawn (727-733-7167) was the funeral home in charge. DHD

LARGO -- A 43-year-old St. Petersburg man accused of the April 1999 killing of a homeless man pleaded guilty this week to a reduced charge of second-degree murder.
In a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday, Willie James Pollock was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a Pinellas-Pasco circuit judge for the beating death of 51-year-old John R. Trollinger.
Trollinger's body was found beside railroad tracks April 23, 1999, near 22nd Avenue N and 29th Street.
Trollinger's relatives say he drank heavily -- he had an arrest record for petty theft and drinking in public, court records say -- but he sought help through counseling groups. During his sober periods, Trollinger worked as an electrician and plumber, according to family members.
The two men, who both were homeless, had been friends. A motive remains unclear, though police think the slaying might have involved a dispute over a camp the two men shared that Pollock thought the victim might have destroyed.
Pollock was originally charged with first-degree murder.
