  	Born in Vian, Oklahoma, he was the son of Daniel Boone and Emma Viola Lee (Mote) Shannon. He married Nadine Trolinger on Feb. 25, 1949, in Quinton and had lived in Pittsburg County since 1949. He worked for Oklahoma State Penitentiary from 1968 through 1972 and was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He worked for Pittsburg County in District No. 1 as a heavy equipment operator from July 2000 until his death. A resident of Blocker, he died at the age of 74 at the McAlester Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Boone and Emma Viola Lee Mote Shannon; a son, Jerry Dean Shannon; a brother, Bud Shannon and a brother-in-law, Arthur Hatfield.
