- Emmitt was born on 01/28/1942 to Journy and Luvee Trolinder in Vallejo, Ca. He grew up in Vallejo and was the youngest of seven siblings. His first job was delivering newspapers for the Vallejo Times Harold at the age of 12 to Mayor ISLAND. When he was 15, Emmitt got a job working for Thompsons market, little did he know at the time this would be the beginning of his 40-year career working in the grocery industry. He retired from Napa Albertsons in Jan of 1999 at the age of 57.
In his free time growing up, Emmitt enjoyed roller skating and hanging out with his siblings and his friends. As he got older cars became a passion of his. He had over 30 cars throughout the course of his life, he enjoyed working on all of them. He would tell stories about he and his friends street drag racing back in the day. He loved his best friends, Duane, Gene and Phil. They had been best friends for over 70 years starting at around the age of 13. These four would go on to create such great memories together, some mischievous ones as well.
Emmitt's childhood dream was to learn how to fly. His dream came true in his early 20's learning to fly a Cessna. He also loved to fish, golf and occasionally hunt elk. Fishing was his true passion though, he spent countless hours either by boat or on the bank trying to hook the next big trophy. He was also part owner of the Napa Valley Bears, a semi pro football team that played at memorial stadium back in the 70's and early 80's.
In 1965 Emmitt met the love of his life, Mary Lou Paxton. On their first date, Emmitt took Mary on a flight over the Napa Valley. They soon married and spent the next 57 years together. They were both previously married in which they both brought young children into the family. Emmitt had two sons Anthony and Darryl. Mary had a daughter Penny. Together they had a son Curtiss.
As time passed, he continued to work hard and enjoy life to the fullest with many camping, fishing and family reunion trips. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, cribbage and solving crossword puzzles along with watching his country western shows.
He loved his friends and most of all he loved his family, he would never miss an opportunity to see and be with the ones he loved. Emmitt's sense of humor was one of a kind, he was very quick witted in any situation and there was never a dull moment when he was in the room.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His love for his family was unconditional.
Emmitt will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. We want to thank you so much Emmitt for all the love and joy that you have given your family and friends throughout your life, and yes (you did it your way).
