Elizabeth Mellon, known to practically everybody in Bedford as "MissLizzie", died at her apartments in the Ridenour Block on Sundaymorning. She was born October 19th, 1850 and was aged therefore 70years, 4 months, and 24 days. She was a daughter of Andrew Mellon andhis wife, Rebecca Snyder Mellon. She was born and reared at Belden,Bedford Co. In 1887 she came to Bedford to work in the home of J.Scott Corle. Later she became a clerk in Mr. Corle's Variety store.When Mr. Corle preceded her in death and the store came into thepossession of his daughter and son-in-law, William A. Weisel, shecontinued as a faithful employee in the same store. Thus for 34 yearsshe served the same family establishing a record not only for lengthof service but for fidelity in that service. Always kind andaccommodating, she made for herself a host of friends who will regrether sudden death. Three brothers proceeded her to the spirit world andshe is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Drollinger of Kansas City,Kansas. Her funeral was held from the home of William A. Weisel onTuesday afternoon, March 15th. She was a faithful member of St. John'sChurch and her pastor, Rev. J. Albert Eyler had charge of theservices. Her body was laid to rest beside her brothers in St. Paul'sReformed cemetery, near Cessna, Pa.
