- GEORGETOWN - Archie William "Cob Nobler" Gustafson Jr., 90, well known Georgetown area farmer and jack of all trades, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville.
He was born on June 4, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Archie William and Ruby Florence Drollinger Gustafson Sr. He married Elzola Kathleen Blacketer on Dec. 19, 1970, in Williamsport, Ind. She survives. Other survivors include, two step-sons, Stanley (Sue) Blacketer of rural Williamsport, Ind., and Barney (Deb) Blacketer of Oakwood; a step-daughter, Darla Balazhi of Georgetown; two sisters, Betty Slayton of Danville, and Bonnie (Jim Knight) Ohlrich of Danville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchildren. Archie was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Gustafson and Alvin Gustafson; and a great grandson, Carlas Anderson.
Archie graduated from Bismarck High School and was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, camping and fishing. When Archie married our mom, he got an instant family; three grown kids and spouses and one granddaughter with three more on the way. He loved all the family get togethers; cookouts, picnics, Christmas Eve meals where there would be games of softball, volleyball, serious ping pong matches and all around good fun. He loved a meal, not picky, he would eat almost anything. He always said he liked two kinds of pie, hot and cold. He was an honest, hardworking, generous, well-liked man. He was especially proud of his new little great-great grandson, his namesake, Gus Denton. He never wanted to say goodbye, just so long for now. Well, Archie, so long for now, till we meet again. Love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.
As per his wishes, Archie will be cremated and there will be no services held. Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. Robison Chapel in Catlin is handling arrangements. On-line condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
