Elbert L. Boley, of Homewood, Illinois and Phoenix, Arizona died on
August 5, 2001 at Fort Collins Health Care Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, at 90 years of age. He was born June 10, 1911 in Kahoka, Clark County, Missouri, the eldest child of Ira & Olive Boley. Mr. Boley graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois during the Great Depression. He worked for Armour and Company and the Dial Corporation as a chemist and executive in Chicago and then Phoenix for forty years. Elbert played a major role in formulating and promoting the company's flagship product, Dial bath soap. He retired in the early 1970's and remained in Arizona until 1997 when he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and then to Fort Collins, Colorado. He was a life long member of the American Gil Chemist's Society. Elbert married Catherine Irene McGuan on January 31, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Boley is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Pamela Boley of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two brothers, Darrell Boley of Littleton, Colorado and Eugene Boley of Pelham, Alabama; two grandchildren, Michael Boley of Tucson, Arizona and Laura Boley of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mr. Boley was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years, Catherine Boley in December 1996; his parents and one brother, Forrest Boley. Mr. Boley has been cremated and interment of his ashes will be with his wife, Catherine, at Phoenix Memorial Park in Phoenix.
