  It appears Helen was probably born to Arthur Ottinger Trollinger and unknown mother as an out of wedlock child when Arthur was about 17 years old. It appears that Arthur's older sister, Catherine and her husband, George Lawson, took her in and raised her. Helen was claimed as his daughter in George Lawson's obituary. Helen was not included as a family member in the the 1930 Census where George Lawson was head of household. I cannot find Helen identified in the 1930 Census. Helen's father is identified as George A. Lawson in her Social Security Application. Helen is identified as "Helen Garnfro the step-daughter of Anna nee Prince who was second wife of George Lawson in Anna's obituary. The obituary of Arthur Ottinger Trollinger states, "Survivors are his son, Charles Trollinger; sister, Mrs. Helen Gorenflo of Maryville, Tenn.". Because Helen was born in 1920 it would seem almost impossible that she could be Arthur's sister as stated in his obituary. I believe the newspaper that printed his obituary made a mistake and it should have listed Helen as Arthur's daughter instead. Helen signed her Marriage Record as "Helen Trollinger".
