"F. J. Sleeper Is Cancer Victim; Services Monday
Francis J. Sleeper, a resident of Goldendale for nearly 40 years,passed away at his home in Goldendale, Friday, October 13, followingan extended illness with cancer. Funeral services were held from thePhillips Funeral Home Monday afternoon, October 16 at two o'clock withthe Rev. Bruce Groseclose officiating. Graveside services at theI.O.O.F. cemetery were in charge of the Masonic lodge, of which he wasa member.
Active pallbearers were Z.O. Brooks, Paul Johnson, Bill Darland, C.H.Knosher, E.C. Kaiser and Cliff Pike. Honorary pallbearers were HowardLewis, J.J. Fry, Bert Sanders, Geo. Nesbitt, Geo. Coffield, JimShelton, Mart Spalding, A.K. Allen, Geo. Halling and Harold Gill.
The deceased was born March 26, 1884 in Elba, N.Y. He came toGoldendale in 1910 and has since made his home here with the exceptionof two years spent in Seattle.
For the past 31 years he has been engaged in sales work, 11 of whichhe was employed by the J.K Gill Co. of Portland.
On July 15, 1917, he was united in marriage to Adria Bonebrake. He issurvived by his wife, two children, Jean of Seattle, Donald of PortAngeles; three brothers, John of Elba, N.Y.; Arthur of Batavia, N.Y.and Stanley of Clarkstown and three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Ackert ofBatavia, N.Y., Miss Caroline Sleeper of New York City, and Mrs. R.W.Stevens of Seattle."
