Donald R. Allen, a longtime Portland resident and bowling centerproprietor, died in Vancouver April 15, 2009, on his 85th birthday. Heis survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis L. Allen; daughters,Merlie Allen Thompson (Bruce) and Suzanne Allen Farrell; son, DonaldD. Allen (Rachael); four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Donnwas a member of the Portland area Bowling Hall of Fame, the AmericanBowling Congress and 390th Bombardment Group, Army Air Corps, WorldWar II. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, inEvergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 N.E. 112th Ave., Vancouver. Privatefamily committal will take place in Willamette National Cemetery withfull military honors. Memorials can be dedicated in Donn's name to theVeterans Association hospice unit in Vancouver.
