- Robert B. Booe, 79, of Kokomo, died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Fairmont Rehabilitation Center. He was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Veedersburg, the son of Russell W. and Emily Maude (McCollum) Booe, Sr. He was married Oct. 22, 1954, in Veedersburg to Naydeane Lightle, who survives.
Bob was a 1948 graduate of Veedersburg High School and graduated from the Utterbach-Brown Business College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for 38 years at the Interstate Printers and Publishers in Danville. At the time of his retirement in 1987, he was in charge of their billing department.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was an avid reader. His love of family included spoiling his grandchildren, which he enjoyed doing often.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Susan L. Johnson of Kokomo; three grandchildren, Jeremy D. (Tricia) Johnson, both serving as missionaries in South Africa, Steven E. (Mehgan) Johnson of Tipton, and Rachel L. Johnson of Kokomo; three great-grandchildren, Jake, Katie and Ryan Johnson; two brothers, William D. (Patricia) Booe of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and James W. (Lucille) Booe of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Lori Ann Johnson; two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with the Pastor Stan Zurcher officiating and military honors provided by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team and the U.S Army. The family will receive friends one hour preceding the service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the First Church of the Nazarene and/or the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
