Mary Ellen Drollinger, age 88, of Sheboygan, died on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Sheboygan Senior Community. She was born in Sheboygan on March 11, 1924 the daughter of the late Herbert and Ellen Smith Friedrich.
Mary Ellen attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1941. On January 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to Robert Drollinger at St. Clement Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Mary Ellen and Bob were married for 58 years. Bob preceded her in death on September 25, 2005.
She was a secretary at Hills Department Store, Leverenz Shoe Company and Amerigas. Mary Ellen and Bob also operated three filling stations all located on Broadway Ave. in Sheboygan. She was very active at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in the Eucharist Ministries and training Mass servers. Mary Ellen enjoyed music, dancing and fishing with Bob.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Drollinger, of Sheboygan; a niece and two nephews and their families, Susan Lemasters, of Sheboygan, Philip (Audrey) Hayward, of Minong, WI, John (Bonnie) Hayward, of Verona, WI. Mary Ellen was also survived by her good friends, Doris, Chris and Jeff, Rich and Chava, Lisa and Michael. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Leland Hayward, and her father and mother in law, John and Tina Drollinger.
A funeral for Mary Ellen will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1:00PM at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St. Sheboygan, with Fr. Paul Fliss, officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Brian L., Dr. Mancheski and Tammi Gags, Kelly and the Office on Aging staff and volunteer drivers, the staff at Tender Hearts, especially Nicole, Annie, Kris and the staffs at Sheboygan Senior Community and St. Nicholas Home Health and Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to Mary Ellen and her family.
