  Graduated University of Wisconsin (Madison, Wisconsin) in 1937 with Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Worked at Appleton Institute of Paper Technology, Appleton, Wisconsin, immediately after graduation. Subsequently went to Giddings & Lewis, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Worked there until summer of 1946; returned to Freeport, Illinois, where he began employment with Hoefer Mfg. Co. Ultimately became vice president and general manager, a position retained until 1960. In 1966, moved to Asheville, North Carolina. Worked for a division of Northrup Aviation that was sold to King Fifth Wheel. Retired in 1976.
