- Patsy Winifred McClenahan Carter
Patsy Winifred Carter was born in Oklahoma City on Nov 10, 1930, to Robert Silas McClenahan and (Mary) Eunice Hadley McClenahan and died peacefully at home on Feb 11, 2018, at the age of 87.
Pat graduated from Classen High School & in July 1950 married Bobby Carter in Oklahoma City at Trinity Baptist Church. A homemaker most of her life, she was an excellent seamstress & Pat's passion was for making intricate & beautiful clothing for her daughter and granddaughters. She worked for the Appaloosa Horse Club in OKC, was on the Board of Directors for Sooner Saddle Club, & was a member of her local home extension group for many years. She & husband Bobby owned & operated Carter's House of Lights for 5 years & were partners for 58 years in Carter-Maxwell Auto Service, which later developed into a major Goodyear racing tire distributorship.
Pat is survived by daughter, Debby Letham & husband John; son, Robby Carter & wife Rhonda McMurtrey; grandchildren, Dede Haws, Richenda (Gary) Parker, Lindsey (Jason) Burchfield, & Kaitlyn (AJ) Prebensen; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Tanner, & Kayte Beckelheimer, Maxwell Parker, & Brandin Haws; brother-in-law, Lem Apala; sister-in-law, Billie Gardner; 4 nephews; & 2 nieces. Pat & her family have been blessed tremendously with love and care for Pat from Teresa Gutierrez & family, Rolanda Derr, & Linda Collum to whom they will be forever grateful.
Pat's parents & her husband Bobby predeceased her as well as sister Juanita Apala, niece Kathy Apala Trammell, business partners Jerry & Beverly Maxwell, & long-time friends Jimmy & Ada Mae Hawkins.
Memorial service will be Fri, Feb 16, 2018, at 2 pm at Guardian West Funeral Chapel, 41st & N MacArthur, Warr Acres, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OMRF, 825 NE 13th St, OKC, OK 73104.
