- Helen B. "Gam" Church, 93, of Lee's Summit, passed away on May 12, 2013. Visitation will be Fri May 17 at Floral Hills from 5-7pm, with services on Sat at 2pm. Helen was born Jan 30, 1920 in Racket, MO to Jesse and Gladys (Trolinger) Summers. She married Leroy "Bud" Church in 1937. They had 1 child, Joanne Haley, the apple of their eyes. Helen was a hairdresser for many years, then became a respiratory therapist at Research Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; daughter, Joanne; brother, Darrell Summers; brother in law, Wayne Pruessner; and nephew, Brett Summers. She is survived by her 2 granddaughters, Vicki Koon, of TX and Karen (Kerry) Puryear, of GA; grandson, Mike Haley, of TX; 3 great granddaughters, Jennifer (Jerry), of TX, Cheyenne, of GA, and Rachel, of TX; great grandson, Michael, of OH; great great granddaughter, Maci, of TX; 2 great great grandsons, Garrett and Greyson, of TX; brothers, Don (Edna) Summers, of MO and Lonnie (Barb) Summers, of MO; sisters, Evelyn Pruessner of MO, Eva (Howard) Arneson, of CA; sister in law, Sharon Summers, of SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Debbie and Erin Attebery, and Cindy and Stephanie DeBitetto, of MO.
