- William Harold Snyder, Jr., 79, of Troy, Ill., born April 15, 1930, in Maryville, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
Mr. Snyder had been employed by the U.S. government at Scott Air Force Base as an electrical engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War. Bill was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill., Knights of Columbus, Troy, Ill., and the 50 Plus Club. He loved woodworking and had made cradles for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed photography and computers. Most importantly, Bill loved his grandchildren and was their number one cheerleader at all sporting events.
Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his parents, William Harold and Mary Mildred, nee Trullinger, Snyder, Sr.; son, Michael Snyder; daughter, Marguerite Snyder; and brothers-in-law, James Martin and Al Edlund.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Louise, nee Ciotti, Snyder; daughters, Michelle (Richard) Cook of Huffman, Texas, Mary Beth (Danny) Tracy of Marine, Ill., and Melissa (Darren) Hlava of Marine, Ill.; brother, Richard (Peggy) Snyder of Godfrey, Ill.; sisters, Betty Martin of Tarkio, Mo., and Norma Edlund of Salida, Colo.; and grandchildren, Zackary, Brittany and Dustin Cook, Bailey, Hallie, Murphy, Samuel and Reiley Tracy, and Madalaina and Alexandra Hlava.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church or the Illinois Center for Autism.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2009, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill., with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
