    • Floyd O. Haag, commonly known as "Shorty", 89, of Bremen, passed away at 3:40 am, Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Elkhart County Hospice House. Floyd was born on July 18, 1926, the son of Irvin Floyd and Mary Jane (Hostetler) Haag. On December 20, 1951, he married Ruth M. Flory. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; four children, Alice K. Haag of Elkhart, Betty L. (Paul) Fox of Bremen, Mike Haag of Bremen and Cris (Craig) Merrick of South Bend; four grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Fox, Jonathan (Crystal) Fox, Jared (Rebecca) Fox, and Vincent Hamlin; and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by four siblings, Velma Neeley of Columbia, SC, Lorraine Jones of New Carlisle, Donnie (Bill) Wagoner of South Bend and Mary (Ray) Kaiser of Mill Creek, IN as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Grise, brother in laws, Harold Grise, Marion Neeley, and Robert Jones, dear friend, Ed Stout, who was like a brother to him, and nephew, Tom Wagoner. Shorty was a great fan of I.U. Basketball. You would find him glued to the TV every game. His family kept him will supplied with I.U. hats, shirts and whatever else they could find. His sisters even made fleece blankets, pillows, and bibs for him. He was a member of Bremen Missionary Church. In later years he could not attend but he surely loved his precious Savior and we know his is with him today. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed. Floyd served his country with the U.S. Army before his honorable discharge. Shorty was a farmer and worked for the Wyatt Grain Elevator for 32 years before his retirement in 1988. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in Bremen Missionary Church, 2958 Elm Rd., Bremen. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the church with one hour of visitation prior. Rev. Gary Hinkle and Chaplain Neil Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Bremen Missionary Church, 2958 Elm Rd., Bremen 46506 or to the Center of Hospice Care, 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563. Since Floyd has been such a true and faithful I.U. Fan for many years, the family would like to honor him by asking guests to wear anything related to I.U. for the visitation and service.
