  Walter F. Minick; Mellott, Ind.- Walter F. Minick, 88, formerly of Route 1 in Fairmount, Ill. , and who had been residing in Mellott, died at 9:50 PM EST Friday (December 6, 2002) in the Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, Ind. Walter was born in Veedersburg, Ind., on August 31, 1914. He was the son of Archie and Goldie Drollinger Minick. He married Lois Carrington in 1961 in Fairmount, Ill. She preceded him in death on August 14, 1990. Walter was raised in Stone Bluff, Ind. , and attended Stone Bluff School. He lived at Route 1, Fairmount, for 30 years before moving to Mellott in 1991. He had been a resident of Woodland Manor since 1992. Walter formerly worked for the Laborer's Union as a hod carrier for 30 years and later farmed for many yeears in the Jamaica area. He loved farming and liked to coon hunt. He was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan. Surviving are: a daughter, Betty (William ) Brimberry of Conyers, GA; a brother, Angus Minick of Stone Bluff, Ind.; two sisters, Audrey Lowery of Attica, Ind. and Ethel Overpeck of Phoenix; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert W. and Ronnie Minick and a sister, Fern. Funeral survices: 2 p.m. EST Monday, December 9, at the Maus Funeral Home in Attica, Ind.; Officating: the Rev. Bob Elness; Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianaloa. Visitation: noon- 2 pm at the funeral home Dec 9.
