      In 1800, Dewalt flat-boated downriver and settled in Athens Co., Ohio. In 1807, he moved to Preble Co., Ohio with 11 sons and 2 daughters.Six sons were ordained in the United Brethern Church.

      Dewalt Bonebrake served in the American Revolution in the campaignaround Philadelphia in 1777. He was educated, and taught his childrenGerman. he was a farmer and teacher and skilled in metalworking. Hefrequently worked on his farm all day and at his trade of a blacksmithin the evening. Moved to ohio in 1800.
