- Larry Gene Newman (1953-2012)
Larry Gene Newman, 58, of Climax Springs, died Friday, July 6, 2012, near Camdenton. He was born on October 3, 1953, at Clinton, Missouri, a son of Perry C. and Edna D. (Trollinger) Newman. As a child, he was baptized at Edmonson Baptist Church of rural Lincoln and was a member there until moving from the area.
He grew up at Big Buffalo and graduated from Stover High School in 1971. When he turned 19, he moved to Versailles and drove a truck for Clark Tire for the next 12 years. During the 1980's, he hauled cattle for Ferguson Trucking in Sedalia. In 1995, he moved to Eldon to work for Factory Direct Housing Manufacturing, where he set up mobile homes. In 1998, he moved to Cole Camp and in 2003, moved to Climax Springs. He enjoyed working on old cars, fishing, and watching NASCAR races.
He is survived by one daughter, Chantel Rose Newman and Aaron Storey of Sedalia; one son, Justin Leroy Newman of Pittsburg, KS; one brother, Dwane Newman and Norma of Raymore; and five grandchildren, Zoe, Chrislen, and Mila Newman and Wesleigh and Aleighcia Storey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Edna Newman, and two brothers, Leroy Newman and Dale Newman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Donna Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Cemetery, rural Lincoln.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Brushy Cemetery or First United Methodist Church in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
Pallbearers will be Justin Newman, Mike Barbour, Ron Newman, Russ Barbour, Bobby Newman, Aaron Storey, and Richard Barbour.
