Nettie Ann, daughter of Sarah Jane and William Reed, was born in Polk county, Iowa on September the 20th, 1867, the eldest of a large family of children.
On March the 4th, 1889, she was united in marriage with Stallie DeLong at Rockwell City, Iowa. The union was blessed with eight children; four sons and four daughters, namely Floyd Earl of Yetter; Jennie Mae(Mrs. Wallace Conrad) of Lytton; Paul W. DeLong of near Lake City; Dorothy Ellen (Mrs. Joseph McCaulley) of Laramie, Wyo.; Miss Metha DeLong of Pasadena, Calif.; and Clifford Clyde DeLong, who passed away May 16, 1940. A daughter, Edith Miranda and another son passed away in infancy.
Mrs. DeLong died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1943, after an illness.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, five children, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; six sisters and two brothers, besides a host of friends who will always remember her as doing for others.
Mrs. DeLong joined the First Presbyterian church of Lake City March22, 1914, and was always active in her attendance at services and the women's organizations of the church as far as her health would permit.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. J.M. Doms officiating. Burial was in Lake City cemetery. - Nettie M De Long in the Iowa, U.S., Death Records, 1920-1967
