Gwen Drollinger, 82, joins her parents and brother Barth (Jacque) "on the sunnyside of the haystack" for a well-deserved rest. First child of Garrett and Dorothy Stone, Gwen grew up in the tiny town of Ioka, Utah in the Uinta Basin. She attended Roosevelt High School, moving to Salt Lake City in 1949, after a year attending Utah State University. She married her long-time "favorite mistake," Dee on February 17, 1951. They had four children: LaMar (Debbie), Lynn (Teri), DeeAnn (Kent Hansen) and Danalee (Mark Knaras).
Though she could have excelled at any number of possible careers, Gwen devoted her considerable energies to creating a wonderful home for her family. She made it to every ballgame, recital, and parole hearing - not only for her own brood, but for a number of neighborhood "lost souls," (aka; the little people). Gwen was the Queen of Christmas. Her family will remember the special Christmases she created for the rest of our lives. She accumulated over 1,200 snowmen and other Christmas frills to brighten the season. We're sure she's busy decorating Heaven for the holidays as we speak. As she grew older, Gwen grew more and more fond of glazed donuts, despite being diabetic for 30 plus years. Ignoring the unavoidable evidence of her diabetes, Gwen was certain she didn't have the disorder, preferring to "worry about that another day." She agreed to let us refer to her passing as "death by donuts."
Gwen's family would like to thank Megan and all the other devoted health-care workers of Reliance Home Care. They helped make a difficult life passage much easier to bear.
Survived by her husband Dee and siblings Sharlyne and Lee (Wendy), Gwen leaves a devoted circle of children, grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will remember her as the caring, supportive protector and champion she was to all who knew her.

Died of sugar diabetes according to Grant Goodrich Drollinger.
"Gwen died in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Dee, her husband, wrote in her obituary that the cause of death was, "Eating Glazed Donuts" She was a diabetic and her doctor told her not to eat donuts. However, she refused and ate at least one every morning until death. This couple were the comedians of our family. You can't believe what Dee would wear to our family reunions, or what jokes and behaviors were in his repertoire." Per Grant Goodrich Drollinger
