- Ronald Paul Simmons, age 69, of Athens, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Friday, June 21, 2019 in Houston.
Ron was born August 17, 1949 in Dallas to Clyde and Rachel Simmons.
Mr. Simmons graduated in 1967 from Kimball High School, Dallas, TX. He went on to receive his accounting degree from North Texas University in 1971, and worked as a Certified Public Accountant for 40 years - most recently working for his nephew, Brian Simmons. Whether running his own CPA business or working for others, he took great pride in his work. He was a man of strong Christian faith, and even in his darkest days, took any opportunity available to witness to others.
On February 5, 1971 he married Linda Fulce. Together they raised two sons, Greg and Aaron, and a daughter, Judy. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting. Ron was greatly respected by all those that knew him, and while the family takes comfort knowing that he is now in the hands of our Lord Jesus, he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rachel, and a brother, Harold Simmons.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda Simmons, Athens; their son Greg Simmons and wife Jennifer of Athens; their daughter, Judy Simmons Baker of Athens; their son Aaron Simmons and wife Natalie of Grapevine; 8 grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pops" - K-lee Day, Cole Baker, Kamryn Baker, Karessa Simmons, Kobe Simmons, Luke Esquive, Lale Esquive, Tyler Grubbs; brother, Bob Simmons and wife Nancy; brother Mike Simmons and wife Betty; sister-in-law Gwen Simmons; as well as many other family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Athens, Texas under the direction of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
