Fairview Heights, Illinois - Larry G. Sledge, 77, of Fairview Heights, Il, passed away on Monday, March 21st, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on October 21st, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to J.H. Robert Sledge and Hazel (Snodsmith) Sledge.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, J.H. Robert Sledge and Hazel (Snodsmith) Sledge, step-mother, Irene Sledge, maternal and paternal grandparents, and first wife Brenda (Brookman) Sledge.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia G. Frieze of Fairview Heights, Il, brothers, Robert (Vickie) Sledge, Barry(Lynn )Sledge, both of Mt. Vernon, Il, half-sister Linda (Ed) Kueker, half-brothers, Dale (Bethany) Sledge, of Mt. Vernon, Il, Kevin Sledge of Ft. Meyers, Fl, son, Terry (Deidra)Sledge, of Centralia, Il, daughters, Lisa (Brian Tschudy)Rainey, Susan (Dave)Marshall, both of Mascoutah, Il, son Larry Dean (Mindy)Sledge of Mt. Vernon,Il, step-daughters Etta (Steven) Madura of Belleville, Il, Lori Frieze, St. Louis, Mo, ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Larry had been a Manager at One-Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaning in Belleville and Centralia, Il. He worked as the Sales Manager at Frieze Harley-Davidson of O' Fallon, Il from 2003 until he retired in August of 2018. He enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, fishing, boating and time with his family. He was a member of the Stone Celtz HOG Chapter, O'Fallon, Il and had a great fondness of old western movies and classic country music. Larry was a fantastic story teller and had an infectious laugh. He was a friend to all.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 24th, 2022 at Eastview Baptist Church, 211 Sherman St, Belleville, Il 62221.
Visitation 10 am to 11 am, Funeral at 11:00 am on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at Eastview Baptist Church, 211 Sherman St, Belleville, Il 62221.
Private family burial will follow.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or Gateway Pet Guardians.
