    • Karen's sister:
Valerie Gwen Goetter died April 5 following a short illness.
Valerie grew up in Blue Island, IL, daughter of the late Karl W. and Viola H. Goetter. She graduated from D. D. Eisenhower High School where she played viola in the orchestra, joined the theater crew, had major roles in the Junior and Senior class plays, and was a member of NHS.
Val went on to earn a B.S. in Food and Nutrition from Iowa State University (Ames). She was a member of the Iowa State Singers (including the traveling group), and Sigma Kappa sorority. For three years she was also a cast member of Stars over VEISHEA, the annual student-planned and produced musical.
Her first job after leaving ISU was in Raleigh, NC. Thereafter she worked for Stouffers and then Marriott Corporate Services, managing a variety of institutional, educational, and corporate accounts in Oklahoma, Ohio, Indiana, and the Chicago area. Looking back on her years of professional service, Val counted Blossom Music Center (OH) and Katten Muchin & Zavis as favorites.
In later years, Val kept busy with part-time and volunteer jobs including Origins/Marshall Fields, Allstate, 2000 and 2010 US Census, and Active Adult Center qt Downers Grove Park District. She was also a past member and past president of Westbrook West Condo Association.
Her friends remember her kindness, graciousness, interest in mentoring younger workers, and sense of fun; her family remembers her great heart, quick-wit, competitiveness at Scrabble, board games and cards, and love of celebrations great and small.
Val is survived by her sister Karen (J. Douglas) Druliner, niece Jennifer Druliner, nephew Andrew (Phetmano Phannavong) Druliner, and cousins.
Friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan, Downers Grove, August 20, 11a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to: West Suburban Humane Society, 1901 W. Ogden Avenue Downers Grove, IL 60515, NAMI Illinois (https://namiillinois.org), or Habitat for Humanity in the area where you live.
