1299 | 1850 Spartanburg Co., SC census: I would argue that W. Trollinger and H. Trollinger were NOT husband and wife and that census enumerator correctly recorded sex for each of them as "F". My primary rationale is that, although Hulda was living with Mr. James Morrison in 1860 as his wife and although Bomer was using surname Morrison in 1850, a) James Morrison and "Miss" Hulda Trollinger went to the bother of having a legal marriage recorded in 1865, and b) Bomer lived in James & Hulda Morrison household in 1870 Haywood Co., NC census as Bomer Trollinger (along with his wife Julia MNU Trollinger) and Bomer used the Trollinger surname forever after. I believe Albert Bomer Trollinger was born out of wedlock to Emiline Mahulda Trollinger and an unknown father. Further, I believe H. Trollinger, Hulda Trollinger, Hulda Morrison, Emiline Mahulda Morrison are all the same person based on age, location, household, and familial relationships recorded in the census records. It is uncertain as to what her maiden name really is. She could be a Trollinger or married to a Trollinger or merely assuming the Trollinger surname. There is too little known about her to place her with any certainty. She may had died prior to the 1880 which would explain some of the confusion surrounding her. She shows up in 2 census and one newspaper article regarding her marriage to Morrison. Placed here as a consort of William Trollinger pure guesswork on my part. GLD Dec 2012 I believe it is possible that Hulda MNU and Emaline are one in the same people. Gordon isn't so sure, but isn't saying it's not possible either. (David H.
