Name: Daniel Corbus
Age: 11
Birth Year: abt 1839
Birthplace: Pennsylvania
Home in 1850: New Brighton, Beaver, Pennsylvania
Gender: Male
Family Number: 146

April 17, 1861, Daniel R. Corbus enlisted in the New Brighton Rifle Company for a short time, but later re-enlisted as a private in the Ninth Pa. (Pittsburg) Rifles, and served in the Battle of Dranesville, the Seven Days' Battle before Richmond, and the second Battle of Bull Run. Then sickness compelled him to enter the hospital; after recovering his usual health, he participated in the battles of Fredericksburg and Gettysburg, and was honorably discharged, May 4, 1864. He re-enlisted in the 17th Reg., Pa. Vol. Cavalry, and served until the successful termination of the war. Mr. Corbus is a member of the Union Veteran Legion, No. 1. He is a member and past grand, of I.O.O.F. lodge, and is past royal patriarch of the encampment, having also represented that body in the grand lodge of the state; he is also a member, and past commander, of the Knights of Pythias. He has taken a fitting and active interest in his borough, serving in the council for several years, and having charge of the fire department. In 1894, he was elected tax collector for a term of three years.
The subject of this memoir [Daniel R. Corbus] inherited a part of his father's lot on Fourth avenue, and erected a handsome brick residence upon it, which he now occupies. His political affiliations are with the Republican party, and he is universally esteemed by all who have the pleasure to know him. In business life Mr. Corbus is worthy and straightforward; in social circles, he is a true and firm friend; he has fulfilled the duties of his office with credit and honor,--having fine natural abilities adapting him to even a higher and more difficult position.
More on Daniel R. Corbus from another source:
Daniel R. Corbus, postmaster and tax collector of New Brighton, Pa., ranks among the most prominent and popular citizens of Beaver county. He was born in Beaver, September 29, 1839, and attended public schools until he attained the age of twelve years, when he was forced to work out as chore-boy on a farm, for several years. He afterwards entered the Lownsend Wire Mills and learned wire-drawing, which he followed for forty-two years, with the exception of the time spent in actual service during the Civil War. In 1870, Mr. Corbus was elected coroner of Beaver county, and held that office until 1876. He was also elected tax-collector in 1894, and has been re-elected every year since; he is now serving his sixth year in that capacity. October 1, 1898, Mr. Corbus was appointed postmaster of New Brighton,--succeeding William Wallace. The office ranks in the second class, and its earliest record is the appointment of B.B. Chamberlain, as postmaster, March 12, 1849.
Daniel R. Corbus was united in marriage with Cornelia Fairman, a daughter of Captain William Fairman, of Pittsburg. They have one son and one daughter, namely: William, and Thankful. William is a brakeman on the railroad, and makes
his home in Perry, Iowa. He married Margaret Brown, and now has two children, Chester and Lucian. Thankful is her father's able assistant in the postoffice. The subject of this sketch is a son of John S. and Eliza (Reeves) Corbus, and a grandson of John and Betsey (Skillinger) Corbus. The original name of the family was Corbustria, and they descended from the early French Huguenots.

46th Regiment, Virginia Infantry
Overview: 46th Infantry Regiment [also called 1st or 2nd Regiment, Wise Legion] was organized in August, 1861. It was soon ordered to North Carolina and placed in Wise's Brigade. Here part of the unit was captured in the fight at Roanoke Island. After being exchanged it was assembled in Virginia, saw action in the Seven Days' Battles, then joined the Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The regiment participated in the siege against Charleston and during the spring of 1864 returned to Virginia. It endured the hardships of the Petersburg trenches north of the James River and ended the war at Appomattox. This unit contained 401 effectives during the Seven Days' Battles and surrendered 15 officers and 116 men on April 9, 1865. The field officers were Colonels J. Lucius Davis, Richard T.W. Duke, Randolph Harrison, and John H. Richardson; Lieutenant Colonel Peyton Wise; and Majors Hugh W. Fry, Jr. and James C. Hill.

Captain William J. Jordan's Company (F) enlisted on 9 September 1861, from Pulaski County men, for one year. Jordan and 82 other men cast their fate with the Confederacy at Newbern at the regiment's formation. A total of 217 men eventually served in this company, making it the largest in the regiment. This company retained a high level of esprit de corps, evidenced by 33 men remaining in ranks as late as 28 February 1865. Rosters for this company are the most complete of any in the regiment. The first roster covers the period from enlistment to 1 January 1862, when the 54th was in camp near Paintsville in Johnson County, Kentucky. The second roster covers the period from 9 July 1863, through 31 October 1863 when camped near Chattanooga, Tennessee. The third roster covers the period from 9 July 1863 through 31 December 1863 when camped at Dalton Georgia. The fourth muster roll was taken for January and February 1864 again at "near Dalton". The February 1864 roster notes that one "of our brave and patriotic boys" was killed at Stony Side Mountain, and that two others had since died of wounds received there. The fifth muster roll covered the period of July August 1864. The activities noted on this roster indicate that seven members of the company were wounded at Resaca, one was wounded at Cassville; three were killed, four wounded and two were missing after Mount Zion Church; and three men straggled on 3rd July and were captured by the enemy and two deserted and Fountain Wise was captured on 2nd July near Atlanta while on picket. The sixth and last extent roster was for the period January and February 1865, when the company was stationed at Chesterville, South Carolina. Captain William Jasper Jordan served in the company from its organization until it was reorganized, when he was unsuccessful in his bid for reelection. Jordan was succeeded by William F. Eaton, who served in the captaincy until disabled and retired to the invalid corps. Jacob Henry Anderson was then promoted to captain and served until the end of the war.

Early on I had a copy of the Fountain County IN estate records of an Aaron Trullinger, bond posted and letters of administration granted to a Daniel Trullinger. This Daniel Trullinger was established as a son of Abraham P Trullinger through the census records of 1860 and 1870. The only Aaron found was in the 1850 census age 18 residing with a different family. Part of the estate file, Record Book D page 16 mentions the Inventory and sale bill had been destroyed in a court house fire. In a further continuance of the file dated 2 October 1854 it mentions Daniel Trullinger Adm vs the Heirs of Aaron Trullinger. It mentions that the decedant died on the 14th day of January 1850 the owner of a simple lot number 29 in the old plot of the town of Covington valued at $165.00. The decedant died without children or their descendants but leaving surviving him his father Aaron P. Trullinger aged 62 years who is now insane and has for his guardian William H. Mallory and also the following brothers and sisters to wit: Solina Neumon formerly Solina Trullinger aged 30 years who is intermarried with John Neumon, Jane Fugate formerly Jane Trullinger now intermarried with Hiram Fugate aged 23 years, Julia Trullinger aged 25 years, Ellen Trullinger aged 17 years and Francis Trullinger aged 14 years all of whom are of said county (Fountain) and all are the heirs of the deceased known to your petitioner; he therefore asks for an order to sell such real estate at private sale. Curious that Daniel is not named among the heirs! Curious also is the use of Aaron and Abraham almost interchangeably. It is Aaron in a legal document yet Abraham on census records.

HISTORY OF JOHN BONEBRAKE, SON OF DEWALT BONBRAKE.
WRITTEN BY HIS SON, JACOB BONEBRAKE, April 28, 1884
(From the papers of Mrs. Ruby C. Wuestenberg, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) This was given her by 0.0. Zehring of Germantown, Ohio. (Obtained from Our Bonebrake Heritage by Marie Rizek Bonebrake).
John and Jacob Bonebrake (twins) were born in Pennsylvania February 28, 1789, moved to Athens County, 1800, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in year 1806 and to Preble County, Ohio, 1807. In 1810 he became of age. His educational advantages were quite limited but while a boy he got a common education in German language, later he received six months schooling in English language, but he improved at home on what he had learned at school, and became a good reader and a very good scribe in both the German and English language, but he knew little about mathematics until some years later. In the year 1809 he was married to Katherine Starr, a native of North Carolina who had immigrated with her parents to Preble County, Ohio, a few years before. He served twelve months in the War of 1812, after he returned home, and purchased 80 acres of land seven miles west of Eaton, the County seat of Preble County, Ohio. He opened a farm of about 25 acres in heavy beach and sugar timber, but a year or two previous to his moving on this place he became concerned about the salvation of his soul, sought for months and after a hard struggle he found peace by believing in the Lord Jesus, and joined the Church of the U.B. in Christ of which he was a member to the time of his death and served many years as Class leader. In February 1821 he concluded to emigrate further west, sold his land and started with his family, consisting then of wife, two sons and three daughters, landed in Fountain County, Indiana, bought 80 acres of land, built a house and commenced opening another farm in heavy timber in the frontiers thinly settled, plenty of game and rattle snakes here, but land was of a good quality and as he had learned the use of a rifle and how to hunt in his young days while in the Hocking Hill in Athens County and Preble County, Ohio, he found it of great advantage to hunt here as meat was scarce and hard to get he could take his rifle and go to the woods and supply his family with meat without spending much time, as deer and turkey were very plenty. After 19 years of time had elapsed, his family numbered ten, five sons and five daughters, respectively, Jacob, William Fredrick, Rachel, Katharine, Rhoda, Mary Ann, Noah, John, Lydia, George, Conrad. The two oldest were married and had small families, his disposition of emigrating west was again aroused in which all the children acquiesced. He sold his farm and started for Iowa in fall of 1840 with his children but as it was late in the season he stopped in Illinois one year but in fall of 1841 he resumed his march westward, crossed the Mississippi, landed in the border settlement, with plenty of Indians, but they were peaceable. The country settled up rapidly and a few years assumed a home-like appearance.
Father made several short moves and finally purchased land in Marion County. Here he made his last farm and lived on it until Mother died which was in the summer of 1853, and until all his children were married, and lived in Marion County, except the youngest, Conrad, who went to Indiana and got married.
When the war of the rebellion commenced he volunteered, served in the Union Army three years, finally was taken prisoner by the rebels and confined in Libby prison and very near starved and took fever, that always follows starvation and died in September 1863 at town of Newburn, Marion County, Iowa, for three of his children resided there at that time. But to return again after Mother died, Father sold his farm and bought him a good horse and buggy and just went around among his children. He, John, was a man of pleasant disposition, very honest and highly respected by all who knew him as a citizen and Christian.

The tale of John H serving as a soldier is highly unlikely. Not too many 71 yr olds joined up plus there is no evidence to support him joining the army. Libby prison was in Richmond Virginia so how did he get from there Iowa?
