My younger brother, John A. Bosang, had for several days, by the doctor's orders, been with the wagons. He had been quite unwell and was also barefooted, not having the sign of a shoe. The day of this Wilderness fight our command was marched and countermarched for half the day before we seemed to find the enemy. Finally we formed in line of battle and just then my brother came limping up. I met him and tried to persuade him to go to the rear as he was unfit to go into action, but he refused to leave us. Being a noncommissioned officer his proper place was in the rear of the company, but we were ordered forward. I looked down the line and Johnny was in front. I told him to get back to his place and remain there. Those were the last words I ever spoke to him and the last time I every saw him. Almost immediately the enemy opened fire on us. A galling fire from the front and another force on our right gave us a heavy enfilading volley. We were ordered to fall back which was done. The enemy did not follow so we reformed and by that time more of our troops had moved up on our right and we all made another forward move. This time we had nothing to contend with but the force in our immediate front which we soon disposed of. Being an officer I could not go back to see about my brother but sent a detail to bury our dead. He was shot through the heart. Dear little brother, I hope we shall meet again. Mrs. D. had been ill for sometime and now it is believed her illness was caused by the coffee. Neighbors Isaiah Thompson, Robert Griner, Lemuel Howell, C.W. Beckett and his wife, Braden Beckett, a son of deceased, had bone to Mrs. Drollinger's to assist in laying out the remains, and at dinner had drank of the coffee, a deathly sickness and severe vomiting soon following, which lead to the belief Mrs. D. was poisoned. Decased had said before dying that the coffee frequently made her sick when she drank it. All who drank the coffee at dinner Tuesday were compelled to go to bed. Some are better and some are still sick. Mrs. D. was about 40 years old, and leaves a husband and 4 sons. Remains will be interred today in Mound Prairie Cemetery. The coffee used was either "Four X" or "Lyon," our reporter did not know which." "A special to the Lafayette Daily Courier states, "the Drollinger poisioning case at Foster is creating great excitement. The husband refuses to let the authorities take up his wife's remains and guards her grave with a shotgun. He is strongly suspected of causing her death, as a former wife died suddenly in a similiar manner." Henry was gone and [he] could never find out what happened to him. In the early 1920s we heard of a Trolinder family close to Wellington, Texas. Leonard and Charles W. Trolinder visited the family but could not find any connection to our family. Of course Charles always wondered what happened to his brother.
