56425 | William E. Morris, Sr., of Upper Pittsgrove passed away on January 31, 2024. Born in Salem, Bill was the son of Richard C. Sr. and Blanche (Trullender) Morris. He grew up on Garrison Rd. near Aldine went to Daretown Public School and then attended Woodstown High School. Always a hard worker, he started mowing lawns at the age of eight and then he started helping one of the local farmers picking tomatoes. In his late teens, Bill then worked for the Coleman's milking their cows. From there, he worked at Mannington Mills, Avis Volkswagen and at the ESSO at Pole Tavern until he started working for the Upper Pittsgrove Board of Education as a custodian for the next forty-nine years. After retiring, he went back to his first love and began mowing lawns for some friends in the area. Bill was a lifetime member of the Daretown Fire Company, served as a Special Officer for the Elmer Police Department and the Salem County Sheriff's Department and was a Salem County Fire Policeman. He had also been a member of the Aldine Dairy 4-H Club where he raised Jersey Cows showing them at the Salem County Fair when it was still at Cowtown. Bill was also active with the County Corners 4-H Livestock Club and during the fair you would find him in the barn near the steers. Not a traveling man, his idea of going on vacation was going to the Salem County Fair. His love for the fair and 4-H continued with his children, Billy and Amy. Just like their father, they joined 4-H and raised steers and pigs on their own. Again Bill's love for the 4-H Club and the fair did not stop there but the tradition and love continued on with his grandchildren Nathan and Kaitlyn. Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Kathryn (nee: Isaacs); children, William E. Morris Jr. and his wife Nanette and Amy Crim and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Nathan (Tiffany), Kaitlyn (Joshua) and T.J. Hymer; great grandchildren, Hannah E. and Adelyn J. Crim; brothers, Richard C. Morris, Jr. and Robert W. Morris (Doris) as well as sister-in-laws, Lois (Isaacs) Greensweight and Doris Isaacs. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a grandson Jacob Crim, his mother-in-law, Pearl Isaacs, a sister-in-law, Barbara Morris and a brother-in-law, Earl Greensweight. Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Adams Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Elmer, NJ 08318. The viewing will begin at 10 AM with the service following at 11 AM. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the County Corners 4-H Livestock Club, C/O Danielle Taulane, 262 Glassboro Rd., Monroeville, NJ 08343, St. Jude''s at stjude.org or to the Shriners at donate.lovetotherescue.org in his memory. www.adamsfuneralhome.org | Morris, William Edward "Eddie" Sr. (I30495)

56434 | William emigrated to Pittsburgh PA and was a monument setter for Donatelli Monument Company on the North Side. He set the man, beast and bird fountain which was a landmark on Federal Street and was in Market Square downtown. 1920 census list him as 60 with wife, Elizabeth, 57 and son William 35, year of immigration as 1909, occupation as stone mason. His brother David emigrated earlier and worked for the Railroad. Possibly William came over to be with his brother. William has some mystery about him. I have 3 different dates for his birth. He obtained a Canadian passport 13 March 1920 and gave his age as 55 and Toronto as his residence. His daughter Margaret Jane was the wife of William Skelly and lived in Toronto. Why he got a Canadian passport and not a British one raises a question. His wife obtains a British passport 24 October 1920 with a visa to the United States 5 November 1920. It looks like the three of them travelled to Ireland and back to visit his wife's mother. Resided 10 Stonyford St, Belfast according to daughter Georgina's 1908 arrival in Phila PA on the Haverford. 56438 | WILLIAM EUGENE NICHOLS July 13, 1928 - March 25, 2013 "Bill, in short, was a giver and he saw the beauty in simplicity. He carried the mantel of his 'greatest generation' well." William "Bill" Eugene Nichols, 84, a resident of Camas-Washougal, Washington for 62 years, died resting in his home with family members around him. Bill was born to Milo "Mike" Nichols and Mabel Louise Davis in Belgrade, Nebraska on July 13, 1928. He had two brothers, Jerry Nichols and Dick Nichols (deceased), and two sisters, Nadene Pehl and Leona (Arlene) Connor. As eldest son, Bill took seriously his responsibility to help care for his younger brothers and sisters. His caring disposition followed him throughout his life and was fully evident in his sacrificial and loving care of his wife during the last years of her life. He served honorably in the post-World War II Pacific Campaign helping to rescue missionaries from China. Bill worked at the Camas Paper Mill as a machine tender for thirty-eight years because he believed in loyalty. He built his own home by reading books, loved to farm, fish, hunt, and go camping. If it was outdoors, he liked it. Bill had zero tolerance for laziness, saved everything because 'you never know when you might need it,' and loved the simple things in life like a good meatloaf, doing jigsaw puzzles, chocolate chip cookies, and a robust conversation. He respected hard work and believed that five dollars earned with integrity was worth more than a million dollars made through shortcuts or entitlement. He helped others because it was the right thing to do. Like his wife, Ardis, who died one month prior, Bill left the world a better place than when he entered it. This is his legacy by which his family can now say: though dead, by faith, he still speaks (Hebrews 11:4). Survivors include his daughter, Judy Briles of Portland, Oregon; one step-daughter, Claudia Johnson of Ocean Park, Washington; three step-sons, Dennis Hall of Bothel, Washington, Mark Hall of Newport, Oregon and Kevin Hall of Ellensburg, Washington; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis Arlene Nichols; his son, Mike Nichols; and his granddaughter, Brook Hall. There was a small family graveside service at Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas, Washington on Saturday, April 6th, 2013. There was a family and friends open house at 763 G. St., Washougal, Washington to remember Bill's life. Please send donations to a Hospice foundation of your choice. Published in The Columbian on April 2, 2013 | Nichols, William Eugene "Bill" (I20397)
