- Gerald "Jerry" Lee Drullinger, 75, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 after a 32-year courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on August 17, 1937 to Ralph and Stella (Brandt) Drullinger. His family moved to Palisade in 1947 where he graduated from High School in 1955 and moved to Denver. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 and was stationed at the Lincoln Air Force Base with the 307th Armament and Electronics Bomb Wing. On October 19, 1958, he married Beverly Peterson in Gothenburg. In 1960, Jerry began a 36-year career with The Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Co. as a cable splicer and switchman, moving to the Fairbury office and retiring in 1996.
Jerry and Bev moved to Flowing Springs in Beatrice for a few years, and to Overland Park in 2005 to be near their family. Jerry enjoyed and participated in many sports. He played semi-pro-baseball for the "Bombers" in the air-force and officiated high school football for many years. He was a member of the Fairbury Elks Club, Fairbury Eagles Club, Wymore Country Club and CWA. Jerry was an avid Husker fan and held Nebraska season football tickets for nearly 50 years. Jerry will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of faith with a kind and caring heart and a wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Kendra (Michael) Miner and granddaughter, Kennedy Miner of Leawood, Kan.; sister, Sharon Drullinger of Norcatur, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Donald Drullinger and sister-in-law, Oleta Drullinger.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 29th with greetings at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. in the Wesley Covenant Chapel at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, Kan. 66224. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials are to the National Parkinson's Foundation or Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund. Arr: Cremation Society KS & MO, www.kccremation.com
