- Linda Sue (Lemmons) Burns, 66, of Evansville, died June 17, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital. She is survived by her husband of almost 47 years, Clark; two daughters, Ginger Tamayo and her husband, Luis, of Ambato, Ecuador, Erika Pedersen and her husband, Keith, of Wallkill, N.Y.; one son, Michael Burns, of Evansville; one sister, Gloria Leach and her husband, Jerry, of Evansville; several nephews and cousins, and a whole host of friends from coast to coast. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ralph and Travis Lemmons.
She battled Type I diabetes for over 46 years, but it finally took its toll on her. She had strong faith in the true God, Jehovah, and his promise of a new heaven and a new earth. We look forward to seeing her again when she is resurrected into the paradise earth. She tried her best to live her life in a way that pleased her heavenly Father. She was an avid student and teacher of the Bible, and regularly taught others the Bible in their homes.
Linda was special in many ways. She suffered poor health, but never moaned about her lot in life. She loved life and embraced it with all her power. She was a compassionate listener and a trusted adviser to many. She did everything with feeling and passion, and you always knew how she felt about things. She was spunky and feisty, but always loyal and loving to her family and friends. Her interests were many and changed as her health worsened. She loved animals and showed it from her breeding and raising collies to her becoming a dog-groomer for a number of years to her taking in a stray cat in her last year. In recent years, she took up making quilts and designed some for her family and friends from handkerchiefs.
She was a devoted wife and homemaker and an excellent cook. She was a loving and nurturing mother. She was expansive in her love for those who needed someone, and many looked upon her as a second "mom."
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that gave her such good care at Deaconess Hospital these last three months and the nurses at Westpark Rehabilitation Center that gave her loving care until her death.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Southwest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 610 S. Eickhoff Road. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Southwest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
