- Robert Lewis "Bob" Wallace, 90, of Waco, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at his residence. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Chaplain Curtis Holland serving as officiant. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the funeral home.
Bob was born in Axtell, Texas, to the late A. D. and Julia Wallace. He attended Axtell and LaVega schools. After working in several Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camps, he married Imalene Neal in 1940. Bob was a World War II veteran, having served in the Phillipine Islands. He worked at Universal Atlas Cement, now known as Lehigh Portland Cement for 39 years, retiring in 1980 as a Control Room Operator. For most of his adult life, Bob was active in agriculture, mostly poultry and cattle. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying baseball, fishing and hunting activities. He was a member of Edgefield Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Earl Cook and Nell Wallace; and a brother, A L. Wallace.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mrs Imalene (Neal) Wallace; sons, R. E. "Bob" Wallace and wife, Nena, of Waco and Don Wallace and wife, Sandra, of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren, Kristina Woodruff, Andrew Wallace, Shawn Wallace and Wendy Tetens; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Roy Wallace, of Waco and Garland Wallace, of Lorena; sisters, Mary Neal and Lara Ling, both of Lorena and Shirley Springfield and husband, Chester, of Robinson; and many nieces and nephews in his extended famiy.
