    • Dave passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on October 29, 2015. He spent his last month surrounded by family and special friends. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Rachelle; his son-in-law, Andrew; and his loving grandkids, Rebecca and Jason. He is also survived by his amazing sister, Karen; her husband, Alex; his brother, John; as well as his nieces, Lynn and Julie and nephews, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, and Patrick and their children. Dave grew up in Southern California, was the student body president of Redondo Union HS, played basketball at Stanford University, served 3 years in the U.S. Army and obtained his law degree at McGeorge School of Law. He spent 40 years as a criminal prosecutor. Dave worked 24 years at the Sacramento Co. D.A.'s office, where he prosecuted some of the most notorious criminals in Sacramento. In 1999, then-Attorney General Bill Lockyer selected Dave to be the Chief Assistant of the Criminal Division of the Attorney General's Office. After 3 years in that position, Dave became a Senior Asst. A.G., assigned to prosecute the most sensitive and complex trials in the state. Dave served in that role, and as a mentor to many other attorneys, until his retirement this year. In July 2015, CDAA presented Dave with the George Williamson Career Achievement Award. In his younger days, Dave enjoyed playing golf, basketball, softball, and volleyball. Since 2001, his interests included anything involving his grandkids' school and sports activities. Dave loved being a "grampa" most of all. He established every Thursday as "Grampa Day," which included frequent trips to ice cream, movies and playing basketball in the driveway. Dave was an intelligent, enthusiastic, optimistic and caring person. He was well-known for his vast Hawaiian shirt collection. He loved his job and considered it a privilege to mentor new attorneys. Most of all, he loved his family and considered his grandkids to be his greatest legacy. Per Dave's wishes, there will not be a memorial service but the family will be holding a Celebration of Dave's Life in the spring.

    • Attorney General Bill Lockyer Names Chief Assistant to Criminal Division
      Tuesday, January 12, 1999
      Contact: (415) 703-5837
(Sacramento)-Attorney General Bill Lockyer today announced that David Druliner, 51, will serve as his Chief Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Division. Druliner, Assistant Chief Deputy District Attorney for Sacramento County, will begin serving in the Attorney General's Office on February 1, 1999.
"David Druliner, selected among several impressive candidates, is widely respected by attorneys, judges and other professionals in the legal field," Lockyer said. "In his 22 years as a prosecutor, he's handled every kind of criminal case, from petty thieves to placing three killers on death row. He is a tough prosecutor and a talented manager who will make sure California maintains an aggressive and effective stance prosecuting criminals. I am very pleased to have him on my staff." Since 1975, Druliner has worked as prosecutor in the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office where he was chief of various bureaus, including Misdemeanor, Felony, Organized Crime and the Major Offenders Bureau, before becoming Assistant Chief Deputy D.A.. Druliner also supervised the Career Criminal Unit.
Among his noteworthy cases are People v. Charles Case (I) & (II), a jury trial of the "Mid-Day Rapist" in Sacramento where the defendant committed numerous robberies and sex offenses. Case, the defendant, received a 24 year sentence. He was eventually paroled and was later convicted again by Druliner for a double murder and sentenced to death. Druliner also prosecuted Frederick Consorti for a bizarre crime spree of bombings and shootings in San Mateo County and machine-gun shootings in Sacramento, which resulted in the death of a young girl. Consorti was convicted on all counts and received a life sentence.
During his 22 years as a prosecutor, Druliner has handled thousands of criminal cases, many times being singled out for his outstanding work, including being honored by the Sacramento Area Narcotics Officers in 1983 as an "Outstanding Prosecutor." He has also been an instructor at the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Los Rios, and was selected for the Experienced Prosecutors Course, 8th Session of the FBI National Law Institute in Quantico, VA.
In his capacity as Chief Assistant Attorney General, Druliner will oversee the day to day operations of the Attorney General's Criminal Division which employs 428 Deputy Attorneys General.
Druliner received his Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in 1975 and his Bachelors of Art Degree in Political Science from Stanford University in 1969. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. [end]
