- After a full life, Ted passed away peacefully in his home on July 22, surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. Francis, Kansas on January 27, 1937, he grew up in Yamhill with his parents Laverne and Marc Lambrecht and his four siblings.
A true lover of the sea, Ted was an avid fisherman and hunter who took every opportunity to be on the water. Ted was a tirelessly hard worker, who held many jobs over his life including working as a barber, steelworker, logger and commercial fisherman on the Dory Fleet. It was his love of the ocean that lead him to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a merchant marine.
He spent the last years of his life doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether he was teaching them to walk on stilts or taking them fishing, he cherished his time as a grandfather.
Ted was a loyal, honest, hardworking man who loved his family above all else. He remains greatly loved and will be tremendously missed.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Barnes; a son Rod Barnes and daughter-in-law Judy of Hawaii, a daughter Kathy Duke and son-in-law Jeff of Snohomish, and son Mike Barnes of McMinnville; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a step-sister Beverly Lambrecht and step-brother Alvin Lambrecht.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers Bill and Eugene Barnes.
