- Jacob H. "Jake" Kitzer, 80, of 625 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, formerly of New Kensington, Whitesburg, Rural Valley and Dayton, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in Veteran's Administration (Deshon) Hospital, Butler, after a five-year illness.
Born Dec. 2, 1892 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Trollinger) Kitzer.
Kitzer lived the last 12 years of his life in Whitesburg, Rural Valley and Dayton. Prior to that, he lived for 60 years in New Kensington, and was employed for 25 years of that time by Aluminum Company of America, before his retirement in 1960.
He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club, and a former member of both the New Kensington Elks Lodge and American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret V. Smith Kitzer; two sons, William H. of Detroit and Gary of San Diego; a brother, John D. of Dayton; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Thomson of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
KITZER - Friends of Jacob II, "Jake" Kitzer, who died Oct. 15, 1977, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Ross G. Walker Funeral Home, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Raymond R. Lee, pastor of the Free Methodist Church of New Kensington. Burial will be in the family lot in Plumcreek Cemetery, Plum Borough. Arrangements by Walker. [end]
