    • Obituary read: "James D. Lowry, 80,315 W. Second St., Veedersburg, died at 4:45 p.m. March 21, 1995 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was born Dec. 14, 1914 in Dana, the son of Fred and Stella Ditto Lowry. He married Audrey V. Minick Wall, Feb. 29, 1948 in Veedersburg. She survives.

      He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Olins Corp. in 1977. He also worked as a blacksmith. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church, the Veedersburg F.&A.M. Lodge No. 491, Scottish Rite Valley of Danville, Low 12 of Rockville, Wallace Lodge No. 495, the American Legion Charles Forrest Post No. 288 and the Golden Years Club of Veedersburg. His favorite hobby was playing Santa Claus for families and organizations for many years. He also enjoyed doing Masonic work.

      Surviving, besides the wife, are: two sons, Fred B. Lowry, Shelbyville; James R. Lowry, Veedersburg; two daughters, Stella Mae Doss, Covington; Delores Ann Livengood, Godfrey, Ill.; two step-daughters, Wilma Richey and Ordella Prince, both of Veedersburg; a sister, Madge D. Killion, Palo Alta, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at the Veedersburg United Methodist Church with the Revs. Richard Russell and Edwin Retter officiating. Visitation will be from noon until time of service. Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery, near Veedersburg. Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, is in charge of arrangements.
